A Million Roses
It’s summer!

It’s finally summer! I can finally breathe. I hope I can make this summer a productive one. Here are my faves of late:

show: “Say Yes to the Dress.” This show chronicles brides-to-be and their search for the perfect wedding dress. Who knew finding the perfect dress could be so complicated and emotional? I love it.

book: The Fault in Out Stars by John Green. I had to read 8 Young Adult novels for my Adolescent Reader class and write a final paper about a topic of my choice and how it is portrayed in YA Literature. I decided to explore dating, love, and sex and how it is portrayed in YA lit, and The Fault in Our Stars is one of the books I chose. At the time of selection, I had no idea how insanely popular this book was. After reading it, I understood why. It is a really good book and probably my favorite among the YA lit books I’ve read. It is a love story about two young people who have cancer and cancer is a VERY touchy subject for me but the book was humorous, poignant and beautiful.

movie: The Fault in Our Stars. It’s a funny coincidence this movie just came out in theaters as I finished the book. I decided to see it as a film adaptation. Big mistake! For some reason, I handled the book okay but I cried so much at the film! I don’t know what it is, but I was not ready to watch a movie portraying cancer, sickness, and death. It was a good movie and all, but with my personal history, I should have known I wasn’t ready to watch this. I was bawling! I still can’t stop thinking about how sad the movie made me feel. shit.

(btw, Ansel Elgort is adorbz!)

Disney’s Frozen is second. I love Olaf.

song: Sia - Chandelier. I like this song and the the music video is cool. There is this young girl who has some interesting movement… modern? I miss dancing.

Magic - Rude

food or drink: Philz coffee!!! I heard of Philz through the grapevine and thought it was one of those overrated fads that only hipsters were into but I decided to go there a few months ago and now I am hooked! The mint mojito is a great iced coffee and my favorite hot drink is the Dancing Water. I love coffee and think Philz is so tasty! Ugh, If only there was one closer to me and it wasn’t so pricey…

makeup product: So, I was 53 points away from a 500 point perk at Sephora and really wanted this nars sampler set that was 500 points so I decided to buy something. I thought hard about what I wanted to buy because 53 dollars is a lot to spend on makeup. I thought about what I needed. I needed a new eyeliner since I lost my Urban Decay one and was looking into this sephora brand set of eyeliners. It comes with 10 pencils for $49 and they are amazing! They are waterproof and they really do stay put! They are the only eyeliners i found to not transfer on my oily eyelid and i heard they were newly re-formulated! They are better than any eyeliner pencil i have tried (high or low priced).

Nothing is new with me. I have been going to Giants games, enjoying summer and working. I still need to work on balancing everything and being productive this summer. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Louis Armstrong - La Vie En Rose

maybe I knew who I was all along.

O my child! temptations are sore things,—but
yet, without them, we know not ourselves, nor what we are able to do.
Pamela; or, Virtue Rewarded by Samuel Richardson, letter VIII

You know what my problem is? I care. Not only do I care, but I care too much. Something I really need to do is learn how to say “I don’t give a fuck.”

I don’t give a fuck. I feel better already.

Shakespeare’s Sonnet 130

My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips’ red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask’d, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

October Faves

Time is going by so fast! Can you believe it’s already October?! It’s my birthday next month!!! There’s no more Giants baseball but it’s Football Season and my Niners won today!

I have been so stressed out lately. There have been a lot of changes at work and my team is falling apart and I haven’t been feeling well lately. I’ve been having terrible migraines and there’s very little I can do to relieve them. Oy vey! I thought blogging might be a nice little distraction.

Here are my October Favorites!

Music: Cee lo Green’s “What Part of Forever”, Frankie J ft. Pitbull - Beautiful, The Morning Benders - Excuses, and pretty much everything of Lana Del Rey’s.

Show: I’m getting into Modern Family

Movie: The Great Gatsby - I wasn’t a fan of the book when I first read it. Maybe I should re-read it, but I liked the movie. Loved Leo DiCaprio, not so much Carey Mulligan.

Readings: Shakespeare. Well it’s part of my homework, but I’m fan of The Bard. We’ve read Merchant of Venice and Twelfth Night, and we’re currently reading Measure For Measure.

Food/Drink: Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha. I love Fall/Winter drinks! Pumpkin Spice Latte is also delicious!

Man Crush: Michael Fassbender. Dunno if I mentioned him before but he’s so talented and underrated!

Scent: I recently went to the Gap Factory store in San Leandro and checked out their fragrances. I purchased “Dream More”. It smells really nice plus I got it for $5 with my discount. I’d forgotten about their scents. One wiff of “So Pink” and I had a deja vu moment. I realized that I used to wear that very scent more than a decade ago, and it reminded me of the old GAP store on Geary St. So weird.

Piece of clothing/accessory: My jewelry! I’ve purchased a lot of really cute jewelry lately and I love them all! Will try to post my purchases.

Beauty Product: Tarte Lipsurgence Tint in Envy - It’s a MLBB (my lips but better) color and it’s easy to put on and it’s lovely! also, since I’ve been stressing out so much I’ve been breaking out and the only products that really worked was a 3 piece treatment that I purchased from acne.org, and I recently just purchased it since I was out.

I am so freaking exhausted.

What I’ve been lusting over:

NARS blushes! two specific shades to be exact— Rotonde, a special edition shade from the Pierre Hardy Collection, and Exhibit A, part of their permanent line. The Pierre Hardy one is $41! Exhibit A is $29 which makes it over $75 for both with tax!

I wanted to go out and get them tomorrow… but I’m not completely sure I will. That is such a large amout of money for 2 blushes :(
